In the modern world the integration of the Some of us Grew Up watching Green Bay Packers the cool ones still do shirt that Lincoln spoke of is even more dramatic. Take, for example, airspace. Right now, all civilian air traffic over the United States is controlled by the Federal Aviation Administration. Air traffic control is a federal responsibility because air traffic usually crosses state lines. Air defense over the United States, and most of North America, is handled by NORAD and the U.S. military’s complex of radar and radio communications systems that track incoming aircraft. What happens if, all of a sudden one day, an independent country pops up in the middle of what is currently U.S. airspace? What about bridges and tunnels that cross from one state to another? What about federally constructed and funded roads, like the interstate highways? What about power lines? Many states use electricity that is partially generated outside their borders. What about finance? What if you have a bank account in a bank that is now based in a foreign country, with a different national currency? (Oh, if you started your own country, yeah, you’d need your own currency.) What if you had investments or property that suddenly becomes part of a separate country, and is now subject to rules and regulations that you have no representation in? What about taxes? Right now, many states receive back in federal funds more money than they pay in taxes.
A very good friend of Some of us Grew Up watching Green Bay Packers the cool ones still do shirt sought to move to Canada permanently. Her English was not very good, but she was sponsored by a restaurant where she could speak her native tongue while learning.Once here, they didn’t do anything to help her learn English. They would call her in for overtime, and give her shifts beyond what was reasonable. They had her doing more than what her job entailed with no extra pay. When it was discovered that she was working beyond the scope of what had been described in her sponsorship application, immigration agents (whatever they’re called here) axed the sponsorship and sent her back. Years of her life spent working towards citizenship only to be screwed over by Canadian officials because her sponsor employer was abusing the system and exploiting workers. She got punished for it, while the restaurant continues to use foreign workers this way to this.

Conversely I find it strange how people can be legitimately afraid of a movie. A jump scare might cause me to flinch or exhale some air from my nose but getting scared from media is strange to me. Which is weird because as a kid I was terrified of scary movies, video games, or just generally anything scary. When I grew up life just stopped being scary if that makes sense. The only time in my adult life I’ve felt genuine fear was when I had sleep paralysis and that is a fear unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my life and hope to never experience again.
I mean, if something is kinda funny I’ll laugh, but when I say I laugh at horror movies it’s usually a compliment. I really like being scared, it’s an enjoyable emotion, and so when a movie or something actually presents a terrifying concept or a clever scare, my reaction is to grin and giggle because I’m having so much fun (I’m like a baby playing peek-a-boo).For example, there’s a pretty clever jumpscare in Resident Evil 8 that I loved; I was giddy and smiling for a few minutes afterward just because it was so well done and actually got me.
